The date of March 22, 1969 is historic for the amateur Joinville.

It was precisely on that day, the headquarters of the Bank of Brazil Athletic Association, then located on the street Luiz Niemeyer, under the chairmanship of the then Deputy Director of LABRE in Joinville, Ney Gabriel Santana - PY5AVP, met amateurs and people interested labreanos in ham radio, for the purpose of founding a club designed to gather them.
The idea was born and prospered, "AMATEUR RADIO CLUB OF JOINVILLE" - the name suggested by Braulio Pereira Doria Jr. - PY3CIN.

The CRAJE was recognized as a Public Utility Municipal Municipal Law No. 1007 of 24/06/1969 and State Public Utility by State Law No. 4367 of 22/07/1969.

Also in 1969, Dentel CRAJE granted the call sign of your station: PY5CIT today PP5CIT.

In the management of Dr. Nilson Mayor Bender, CRAJE the City received in donations, the land located in Tree Farm, next to the Zoobotanical Park, where its headquarters was built.
The headquarters project was the architect Joaquim Guedes and responsible for the construction of the work was the engineer, Dr. Hary Schmidt, who charged nothing for his professional services.
The construction of the headquarters was only possible thanks to the collaboration of the Governor, Dr. Colombo Salles, Mayors, Dr. Harald Karmann Figueiredo and Pedro Ivo Campos, industry and trade in Joinville, amateurs and friends of people who engaged in towards the completion of the work.
But the great stronghold in the Headquarters building, the tireless fighter, and its founder was the first president, the former Army Captain, Braulio Pereira Doria Jr. PP5CIN. To him the Club owes a lot for your effort, for your interest and your dedication. Unfortunately, it was military, was transferred from Joinville before he could see his work completed. In recognition of their invaluable commitment, he was given when the last amendment of the Statute of the Club, the title of Honorary President of the Amateur Radio Club de Joinville. The replacement of Colonel Braulio, Dr. Albano Schulz - PP5CDQ, had the task of leading the work to completion, which made the same commitment, the same dedication and bravery.
During construction of the Headquarters, the members had been meeting on Saturday afternoon at the construction site to an "informal conversation" and to follow the development of buildings. Finally the big day arrived. On 17/11/73, was inaugurated with the presence of officials including Mr. Mayor and representatives of Dentel and Hon. Mr. Governor, the beautiful seat of CRAJE.

The first radio equipment was donated by the then Major Adauri Salles Doria. In 1979, the CRAJE sponsored the installation of the first repeater VHF signals (frequency between 30 and 300 MHz), the State of Santa Catarina, locating it in the Hill of the Dog in Blumenau (SC), next to the TV transmitters Affiliates . Instead of installing a repeater in a region close to Joinville where CRAJE currently maintains two repeaters VHF (Serra do Quiriri and UDESC-Joinville), we opted for Morro do Cachorro based on the assumption that a single system would meet their pioneering cities located between Florianopolis and Curitiba - which, in fact, promoted a rapid development of new technology throughout the state of Santa Catarina, enabling and facilitating considerably aid to cities hit by severe flooding that ravaged the Itajaí Valley earlier in the decade of 80, duly recognized by the mayors of the region.

In the period from 27 to 29/10/79, was held in Joinville, in coordination with the CRAJE, the concentration Amateurs XXII of the 5th Region, which had attendance of around 700 amateur Brazilian and South American countries this event, which was aimed at the reconciliation of hams and technical studies, was conducted alternately in the cities of Santa Catarina and Paraná. Unfortunately, such meetings no longer take place.

At the foundation of the Club, there were 26 amateurs in Joinville. Today there are 220. Many of these new hams Joinville attended the courses given free of charge by CRAJE.
The oldest amateur de Joinville is Mr. Vidal Gomes Acyr PP5SB and oldest amateur radio and was a pioneer in Joinville, is Mrs. Edith Campos Wanda Santana - PP5XM.

The Club has a representative on the Municipal Civil Defense (COMDEC), and participated actively in cases of public calamity, along with other members.

In 1980, the Award was instituted in Joinville City, which is awarded to the Brazilian or foreign amateur radio contact with the station CRAJE (PP5CIT) and number of amateurs of Joinville, in accordance with specific regulations. Such certificates, which are signed by Mr. Mayor and the President of the Club, was donated by Mr. Mayor, Dr. Luiz Henrique da Silveira, when his first term.

The CRAJE highlighted when the floods of 1983 and 1984, through its VHF repeater, supporting the Municipal Civil Defense Commission, especially during the floods that hit "Little Black River in late May 1992. Indeed, on 29/05/92, was set up the Network of Emergency "Rio Vermelho" scheme with HF and VHF communication with the PP5CIT station Club Radio Amateur de Joinville, serving as a support station.

In 1993, early in the management Osny Lawrence Kruger - PP5AIM the CRAJE had the honor of hosting the ENASYSOP I: National Meeting of Supervisors Packet Radio System, contributing to the development of Digital Communications in Brazil.

Under Article 44 of the Bylaws, for the Extinct CRAJE, his estate will pass automatically to the Heritage Hall of Joinville.

Deserves special beauty of the premises of the Headquarters CRAJE and may even say, without exaggeration, that is one of the most beautiful venues for amateur clubs in Brazil, serving, of course, pride for the City of Princes.
