Irish Amateur Radio Station Ei2iP
I received my Irish Amateur Radio licence, "B" callsign Ei8ESB, in mid 1993, several months later after passing my morse code exam of 12 wpm, I was awarded my "A" callsign Ei2iP, which is a privilege to have.
Mostly active from 10M and above, had some fun on the radio but then other priorities in life kick in, my professional career, my masters, family, relationships, other hobbies, interests and I decided to take a long break from the hobby in early 2008.
After a 11-year break, I started again from scratch in January 2020. Despite not been active for so long, there was no way I wanted to lose my hard earned callsign, and while not been active, I still renewed my fees with COMREG.
So depending on the time of the year, I am active from 160M to 2.4Ghz. My current Amateur radio station is equipped with HF/10/8/6/5/4M yagis and a ground station was built for LEO, linear, ISS and QO-100 satellites, using modes SSB, CW, MS, EME and or data modes. I also have the capability to track High Altitude Weather balloons.
Amateur radio, also known as ham radio, entails utilizing the radio frequency spectrum for non-commercial activities such as exchanging messages, conducting wireless experiments, pursuing radio and IT projects, engaging in personal recreation, participating in radio sport activities like SOTA, POTA, employing digital communication modes like FT8, FT4, exploring Earth-Moon-Earth (EME) communication on 6,2 and 70cms., taking part in contests, and contributing to emergency communication efforts during disaster events.
